Oh, and Did I Mention...

Jury Duty?

...

"Run slowly, slowly quickly, horses of the night"

Can we just get May and June over with. They are going to happen and it might be awful but the only way I will get through them is knowing eventually they will have to end.

My vacation starts in July.

It will be so beautiful.

Afterwards, I will begin research into how much money do I need to start building my Earthship.

An Earthship is a home that operates "off the grid." It supplies its own power, water, sewage. I will have a garden and figure out how to grow my own food. There is an entire community for this in New Mexico.

I would like to have the boy for companionship. My hope is that we will be happier off the grid. Failing that, the cat comes with me.

Shelter, food, companionship. There is nothing else we need in this world.

I will never have to use Microsoft Office again, and it will be a happy, happy ending.

  1. I thought you were coming to visit us in Maryland in June :-)

You can buy the house next door to ours - you do not need to use heat or AC here, we can combine backyards (and the empty lot next door) and have lots of chickens and vegetables. We are planning on doing solar (once the technology improves some) for hot water and electricity, and we are planning on devising some sort of cistern to collect water. And we don't drive ANYWHERE (ok, that is a lie. We drive to pick up large amounts of lumber, etc. But we drive our Honda Civic - yes the same one from college, I am not planning on replacing it until it DIES then I will think about getting something more fuel efficient - to pick up supplies, when most would drive a truck...)

But we will not be off the grid :-( But closer than some. And we have to work, considering we have to pay our mortgage... And our house is full of lead paint.

MD in MD in June is not going to happen. Unless I am suddenly dismissed from my job, which would be a surprising but not entirely unwelcome event. UGH. But -- this is the year I make it to California.

What kind of jury duty? My sister just finished up jury duty on a federal murder trial - fun stuff! I'll have to tell you about it some time.

Devin and I were just discussing Earthships with Kim and Dave the other day. Somebody has to make an effort to compete with their yome. :)

Let me know if those California plans get more concrete - maybe I'll have to work it out so that we coincide since you're not going to make it to MD.
