Kinky Friedman was in Houston last week, grand marshall-ing the art car parade (sorry, no pictures this year). His website lists five reasons why he chose Houston as the first official campaign stop:

1. It’s home to his favorite book store, Murder By Numbers.
2. His favorite restaurant, Maggiano’s Little Italy, is located there.
3. Friedman’s longtime friend and one of the best criminal defense attorneys in the state, Richard “Racehorse” Haynes, works in Houston.
4. The city is named after Texas’ greatest Independent, Sam Houston.
5. He “just likes the darn cars.”

This is like, the best thing since President Bartlett.
